Each semester, students in IPFWs hospitality and tourism management department bring a world of cuisine to the Summit City.
This time, theyll be serving A Taste of Switzerland on Tuesday evenings through Dec. 6 at the Mastodon Grill in the Holiday Inn at IPFW.
The entrées include flank steak; cabbage rolls stuffed with veal, smoked ham and pork; veal roulade with bacon, cheese and sage; veal in a seasoned cream and mushroom sauce; pork pot roast; and a dish of bread, cheese and ham thats infused with white wine and topped with a fried egg.
Entrée prices are $4.99 to $16.99.
The menu also has vegetable bean soup, a mixed salad, appetizers, tarts and tortes.
The dinners are available from 4:30 to 9 p.m.

Besides planning the menu, the students create a budget and business plan, market the event and manage the restaurant each Tuesday.
New restaurants on the horizon
Former Hartleys owner Pamela Downs and chef Lisa Williams will open Honey on the Table by the end of October at 2461 Hobson Road, which was formerly The Bakery and the Simple Goodness Bake Shop.
The café and gourmet market will offer seasonal, made-from-scratch dishes, including soups, sandwiches and salads, plus artisan breads, cakes, muffins and cookies. It will be open for lunch Mondays through Saturdays. Custom catering will be available.
Eventually, the café will serve beer and wine. Downs and Williams also plan eventually to offer cooking classes and other events. Ill have more information in a future column.
800 Degrees Wood-fired Pizza plans to open a shop at 5139 Illinois Road. The opening date for this second location is not yet known.
Craft beer festival at Deer Park
More than 50 microbrews will be available during Deer Park Irish Pubs second annual craft beer festival Oct. 8, which will be a fundraiser for the Jerome & Marganelle Henry Foundation for Neighborhood Health Clinics.
Breweries will include the regional Bells, Three Floyds, Upland and Founders.
Mad Anthony Brewing Co. will sell bratwurst, pulled pork and German potato salad.
Riegels Pipe & Tobacco will have a cigar table. Scratch & Sniff will provide the tunes.
Tickets are $25 in advance or $30 at the door. Theyre available at Deer Park, Wooden Nickel and Fort Wayne Belmont Beverage stores.
The event will run from 1 to 5 p.m.

Beer tasting, dinner to raise money
Raise a glass to the big cats during the fifth annual Lions and Tigers and Beer, Black Pine! on Saturday at Black Pine Animal Sanctuary in Albion.
The outdoor event, which begins at 6 p.m. rain or shine, will have a beer tasting, pulled pork dinner, silent auction, tours and music by DJ TKO.

You must be 21 or older with valid photo ID to attend.
All proceeds go to the non-profit refuge, which is home to more than 75 rescued exotic animals.

The annual March of Dimes Signature Chefs Auction will be Oct. 6 at the Fort Wayne Marriott, 305 E. Washington Center Road. The tasting event and silent auction starts at 6 p.m. The live auction begins at 8 p.m. Tickets are $150. Reserve them at www.marchofdimes.com/indiana.
