Shooter's Comments: Thursday was not a good day for a leisurely trip to the grocery. The new Kroger Marketplace was packed, and not just with fans of singer Patti LaBelle.

People thronged the aisles like they hadn't had fresh food since the store closed for rebuilding.

Miss LaBelle signed autographs, hugged fans, toured the deli, hugged more fans, posed for photos, tried on jewelry, then went upstairs for lunch.
