Ronald McDonald House gets $100,000 grant

Statement issued Wednesday by Ronald McDonald House Charities of Northeast Indiana:

Fort Wayne, Ind. – Wednesday, October 5 2011 — The Ronald McDonald House at Parkview announced today a $100,000 grant from the Steel Dynamics Foundation, Inc.

The $100,000 grant will go toward the building of the new Ronald McDonald House inside the Parkview Regional Medical Center on the north side of Fort Wayne. Currently, the Ronald McDonald House is in the midst of a capital campaign to raise the $2 million necessary to build the new House.

Set to open in late fall of 2012, the new Ronald McDonald House will be nearly 9,000 square feet with 10 sleeping rooms for families. Guests are able to relax in the home-like setting while being just down the hall from their child. Guests will enjoy a large gathering room with private sitting area, a kitchen and large family-style dining room, a library with reading nook and computers, as well as a laundry room and night snack room. The Ronald McDonald House also offers drinks, snacks and evening meals to families staying at the House.

The Welcome/Reception Area and the Reading Nook of the new Ronald McDonald House will be named for Steel Dynamics in honor of their generous donation.

Ronald McDonald House Charities of Northeast Indiana at Parkview Hospital

Opening in 2002, Ronald McDonald House at Parkview Hospital is a home-away-from home for families of ill or injured children. The Ronald McDonald House serves the families of all dependent children 21 and under. The Ronald McDonald House offers these services at absolutely no charge to the guest families, whether they stay one day or many months. The Ronald McDonald House is an independent 501c3.
