At the student-run Barr Street Café, the taste of fall includes spaghetti-squash lasagna and a grilled ham and cheese sandwich with Granny Smith apples.
The café, in Anthis Career Center at Barr and Lewis streets, opens for the semester at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday.
The menu also features roasted red snapper with fennel, potatoes and tomatoes; chicken pot pie; grilled balsamic chicken sandwich with caramelized onions and fig-walnut cream cheese; and steamed cod with ginger, soy and rice wine served over couscous.
The salads are pear with blue cheese, toasted pecans and avocado with cranberry vinaigrette; and a chefs version with turkey, cheddar, garbanzo beans and hardboiled egg with red wine vinaigrette.
Each entrée comes with a cup of soup or the vegetable of the day.
Most prices are $6.95 or $7.95; the snapper is $10.95.
Hours are 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesdays through Thursdays.
The café, which follows the Fort Wayne Community Schools calendar, will be closed Oct. 19 and Nov. 8.

Moosewood offers October specials
Moosewood BBQ in the Marketplace of Canterbury has new $5 lunch specials that are available from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays in October.
They include blackened or breaded catfish, pulled pork, pulled chicken sandwich, fish tacos and a mini Moose burger, which is a half-pound.
There are $8 dinner specials (or two for $14.99) Mondays to Thursdays. They are pecan chicken, a half chicken, pulled pork, catfish and tilapia.
Casa locations offer anniversary specials
To celebrate its 34 years in business, the locally owned Casa chain is offering daily specials of popular dishes at all locations in October.
Sunday, spaghetti with meatballs; Monday, Mostaccioli; Tuesday, chicken Palermo; Wednesday, lasagna; Thursday, spaghetti parmesan; and Friday, fried sole.
All are served with a Casaburo side salad.
Prices are $6.99 to $8.79.
On Saturdays, enjoy toasted ravioli for $3.99.
Booker’s serves wine dinner
Bookers at Coyote Creek Golf Club, 4935 Hillegas Road, will have a beer and wine tasting from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday.
The six-course meal includes jambalaya, bacon-wrapped chicken, ahi tuna and mini beef Wellington. Its $35 or $60 per couple.
