Water shutdowns set for valve work

Statement issued Thursday:

Fort Wayne, IN – On Friday, October 7, the Fort Wayne Water Department will replacing valves on water lines in three locations. To make the work possible, water service to several streets will be shut down beginning at noon tomorrow.

The following addresses will be without water while the work is being done:

  • 2600 through 2800 blocks of Broadway
  • 1300 through 1400 blocks of Park Avenue
  • 900 through 1000 blocks of Lincoln Avenue

The water service interruption will last until the work is completed, but water is expected to be back on by late afternoon on Friday.

During the work, the intersection of Broadway and Home Avenue will be reduced to just one lane. Flaggers will be in the area to help control traffic so that the work can be done safely while traffic flow is maintained.

The replacement of valves on the water lines will result in more reliable water service in the future and will allow the water department to better control water flow to the area in case of an emergency such as a water main break.
