Written statement released Thursday morning by the Indiana State Police:
Albion, Indiana – Shortly before 8:30 p.m. Wednesday evening, Indiana State Police Trooper Dave Caswell responded to a two vehicle crash in Albion at the intersection of CR 100 east and CR 400 south that claimed the life of one man.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the driver of a 2006 Harley Davidson motorcycle apparently ran a stop sign on CR 100 east at the intersection of CR 400 south, and collided with a 1993 Chevrolet pickup truck.
The driver of the motorcycle, Kimloy J. Snell, 50, of Harlan, was north bound on CR 100 east when he purportedly ran a stop sign at the intersection and collided with a west bound pickup on CR 400 south. The driver of the pickup, Dennis L. Gaff, 50, of Albion, was not required to stop at the intersection.
Kimloy Snell was pronounced dead at the scene by Noble County Deputy Coroner Jackie Feller. Snell’s wife Kimberly Snell, 51, was a passenger on the motorcycle and was seriously injured in the crash. She was transported to Parkview Hospital in Ft. Wayne. Gaff refused treatment at the scene. Neither Kimloy nor Kimberly Snell was wearing a helmet.
Alcohol may have been a factor in the crash. The crash remains under investigation at this time.
