And Another Thing

Associated Press
A squirrel runs past the leg of St. Louis Cardinals' Skip Schumaker while Schumaker bats during the fifth inning of Game 4 in the series against the Philadelphia Phillies on Wednesday.

Animal kingdom

Forget your Albert Pujols, your David Freese, your Roy Halladay, your Chris Carpenter. The real star of the Cardinals-Phillies divisional series has been this guy.

I mean, two nights in a row, a squirrel gets on the field? And this time he runs right across homeplate in the middle of an at-bat?

Best part of the whole thing: The way Phillies' pitcher Roy Oswalt kind of freaks out about Rocky J.'s bold steal of home.

Priceless. And why do I suddenly get the feeling the Cardinals soon will be launching a "Fear The Squirrel" promotional campaign? Or inducing Pujols to adopt the nickname "Moose"?

So that, you know, Busch Stadium can be the official domain of Moose and Squirrel.
