Laundry firm seeks tax break for $5.3 million project

A $5.3 million investment by a Fort Wayne laundry business is tied to growth in the local medical industry.

Hospital Laundry Service Inc. is seeking a 10-year tax abatement that would save the operation $483,252, according to documents filed with city officials. The company wants to add equipment and construct a 10,000-square-foot addition at its building, 3322 Cavalier Drive in the Centennial Industrial Park.

The project, however, won’t result in new jobs. The request will be introduced to the City Council on Tuesday.
