Irish missing DE

Notre Dame (3-2) will have to face the nation's third best rushing game without one of its starting defensive ends.

Senior Ethan Johnson will not play today against Air Force (3-1) because of the sprained right ankle he suffered last week against Purdue. The 6-foot-4, 300-pounder isn't in uniform and has a black boot on his ankle.

Johnson, who has nine tackles this season, will be replaced in the starting lineup by freshman Aaron Lynch.

Lynch has 11 tackles, 3 ½ for loss, this season. But he has been used primarily in pass rush situations and will have to show how far he has come against the run while facing's the Falcons offense.

Air Force is the third best rushing team in the nation, averaging 364.5 yards.
