Hope runs high at Ross-Ade

WEST LAFAYETTE - Optimism is running rampant around Ross-Ade Stadium this morning, where Purdue opens its Big Ten season against a team that has a worse record.

Minnesota comes to town with a 1-4 record - its only win coming against Miami, Ohio three weeks ago, 29-23.

Purdue, on the other hand, is 2-2, and feels fairly good about itself after a 38-10 loss to a pretty good Notre Dame team last week.

Looking at Minnesota's schedule, this could be the lone hope for the Gophers to win a conference game. The rest of the schedule looks like this: Nebraska, Iowa, Michigan State, Wisconsin, Northwestern and Illinois.

Last week the Gophers got blasted by Michigan, 58-0.

Don't expect anything like that today, but my guess is Purdue will win by double digits.

I'll check in at halftime and let you know how things are going here.
