It's five questions time again, plus a question submitted by a reader.
Senior linebacker Darius Fleming is this week's player.
What is the most difficult part of practice for you to get through?
I would say the beginning because you are coming off a long day of classes and a lot of people are tired and things like that. Once you get in the groove of things, you start hitting a little, then your motor starts running a little bit. You start to get in to it. At the beginning, everybody is kind of like chill and not really in a practice mode, but once you get out there and start running around it's cool.
Is there one play in the Notre Dame playbook that you get excited about running when it's called?
I really don't think I have a favorite. I love doing all of my jobs. I love rushing the passer, of course. And I actually love when I a chance get to drop back in coverage and get a chance to cover some of those great guys I get to cover every day. It's fun. Whatever the play is, I'm looking forward to it and I enjoy it. I don't really have a favorite.
Fleming added that he didn't enjoy dropping back into coverage as much last year as he was learning his new duties at outside linebacker: "I wouldn't say as much. I wasn't as comfortable, so I would say no. When they called coverage, I was kind of biting my teeth a little bit, like, 'ah.' But now, it's like it doesn't matter. I'm actually excited when I get a chance, because if the ball is thrown my way, I might get have an opportunity to get my hands on it.
What is your favorite thing to do away from football?
Hang out with the guys. Even though I'm here with them every day, and I see them so much in the summer. I love hanging out with those guys like going out to dinner, just having a guy's day out. We don't even talk football all the time, just being away from it. Being out with those guys, whatever we are doing.
Do you have a favorite TV show and why?
At the moment, it's "Hardcore Pawn." It's a reality TV show. It's in Detroit. A pawn shop, that just has people come in and pawn stuff. It's a pretty funny show. I find myself watching it every Tuesday.
If you were marooned on an island, which teammate would you want with you and why?
I would have to say Kap (defensive end Kapron Lewis-Moore). Just because, he will lighten up the mood. He will make it feel like we are on vacation or something like that. Kap is usually my go-to guy when I need something or anything like that. He's been that guy, since I've been here.
And the bonus reader question comes from Beth Artz.
Beth wanted to know "What's the best part of the game-day experience for you?"
When we are at home, it's definitely running out of that tunnel. Every time it feels like it's the first time. It's a feeling I'm going to miss when I'm gone, but it's something I'm never going to forget. I love running out of that tunnel.
