Expected endorsement

Politico has reported that FreedomWorks, a Washington, D.C.-based group that organizes conservative activists, will endorse Richard Mourdock for U.S. Senate in the Indiana Republican primary election.

FreedomWorks will endorse Mourdock on Oct. 21 at an Indianapolis hotel, Politico reported, citing an unnamed source. That is the same day the group has scheduled a Tea Party Debt Commission meeting in Indianapolis to develop recommendations on how federal spending can be cut by $9 trillion.

FreedomWorks sent three staff members to address a tea party convention last month in Greenfield, where delegates from around Indiana endorsed Mourdock, the state treasurer, in his bid to unseat Sen. Richard Lugar, R-Ind.
