Gaines, Rosado on preseason lists

The top two returning scorers for the men's and women's basketball teams at IPFW have been justly rewarded by the Summit League.

The conference announced its preseason first and second teams, and Frank Gaines, a 6-foot-4 junior swingman, and Stephanie Rosado, a 6-2 center/forward, were both named to the preseason first team.

Gaines, who was the team's leading scorer in 11 of the Mastodons' final 16 games last year, led IPFW with a 14.8 scoring average, and averaged 6.2 rebounds.

Rosado averaged 16.5 points and 7.4 rebounds, both team highs last season.

Both the men's and women's teams from Oral Roberts were chosen as preseason favorites by a panel of coaches, sports information directors and media.

IUPUI forward Alex Young was named as the men's preseason player of the year, and Oral Roberts guard Kevi Luper was selected as the women's preseason player of the year.
