This spider craft so easy to do, it’s spooky

Halloween is approaching, and many of you have probably already decorated for the holiday. But I came up with this super quick, crocheted spider I just had to share.

What you’ll need:

•Black yarn (my sample is made with Naturally Caron Country that I picked up on clearance)

•Yarn for eyes (I used yellow and green cotton yarn, but any worsted weight in whatever color you want will work)

•A U.S. size G crochet hook (a larger hook will result in a larger finished item)

•Scissors

•Yarn needle

•Polyester fiber filling

What you’ll do:

(Note: This is worked in the round without joining between rounds so it’s like a spiral)

Body

Chain 2

Round 1: Five (5) single crochet in second chain from hook

Round 2: Two (2) sc in each stitch around (10 stitches)

Round 3: SC in next stitch, 2 sc in next stitch; repeat around (15 stitches)

Round 4: SC in next two stitches, 2 sc in next stitch; repeat around (20 stitches)

Round 5: SC in next three stitches, 2 sc in next stitch; repeat around (25 stitches)

Rounds 6-8: SC around

Round 9: SC in next three stitches, decrease (dec) next two stitches (crochet two stitches together); repeat around (20 stitches)

Round 10: SC in next two stitches, dec next two stitches; repeat around (15 stitches)

Round 11: SC in next stitch, dec next two stitches; repeat around (10 stitches)

At this point, fill the body with fiber filling.

Round. 12: Decrease around (5 stitches)

Round 13: Decrease until the body is closed

Legs (Make 8)

Chain 13

Five (5) single crochet in third chain from hook

Five (5) single crochet in remaining chains

This forms a curlique.

Leave a long tail so you can use to sew to the body of the spider. Sew four legs on each side.

Eyes (Make 2)

Chain 2

Five (5) SC in second chain from hook

Single crochet around for two more rows

Leave a long tail to sew to the body of the spider.

Option 2 for eyes

Chain 2

Seven (7) SC in second chain from hook.

Finish off and leave long tail
