Irish forward earns Big East honor

Notre Dame forward Tim Abromaitis was named to the All-Big East preseason first team by the league's coaches at the men's media day in New York.

Abromaitis, a graduate student, is the Irish's leading returning scorer from last season. He averaged 15.4 points and 6.1 rebounds, and hit 42.9 percent of his three-pointers last season.

Notre Dame was picked to finish ninth in the Big East in the coaches' preseason poll.

Connecticut, the defending NCAA tournament champion, and Syracuse tied for first in the coaches' poll.
