Howard doesn't make Pan Am cut

Howard

Veteran Mad Ants guard Ron Howard can now concentrate on the upcoming NBA Development League season instead of spending late October in Mexico.

Howard, the 6-foot-5 guard who will be with the Mad Ants this season, was one of three players cut from the USA Men's Pan American Games team that was announced recently.

Howard, who had been among the 15 finalists, was not on the 12-man roster released by USA Basketball.

The United States team, made up primarly of D-League players, will participate in the Pan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico.

The team will leave its practice facility in Tulsa, Okla., on Oct. 23, and its first game will be Oct. 26 against the Dominican Republic. The Pan Am Games championship is Oct. 30.

Also cut from the finalists list was former Notre Dame center Luke Zeller.
