Make your own sock blocker

I have recently begun a pair of socks out of some super cool self-striping yarn and I know that, eventually, I'm going to need to block them.

I priced sock blockers, and then I looked up handmade sock blockers.

Here's what I can tell you. If you aren't sure you're ready to commit to buying them, make your own. All you need is a wire hanger from your closet (and we all know that most of us have these things around the house, even if you subscribe to the "No wire hangers" belief).

Simply take your wire hanger, hold it by the hook and pull down on the center bar to make a diamond shape. After that, push in one side of the hanger until it looks like a foot.

In the case of my hanger, because the paint started to come off the metal, I wrapped it in a green ribbon I had around from a previous project.

Voila, a sock blocker. I did make a second one out of a vinyl-coated wire hanger
