Ants wind up open tryouts

You know it's fall outside when the Colts are losing football games and the Mad Ants have their open tryouts for all the Walter Mitty types who think they've got game.

I was told that 39 players showed up for Saturday's first day of the Mad Ants tryouts, but not all showed up on the final day of workouts Sunday.

Joey Meyer is back for his third season as the coach, and the Ants are coming off a 24-26 season, missing the D-League playoffs by a tiebreaker.

What you have is what you get, at least for now. Enjoy, if you can, a couple minutes of shooting from behind the basket, and a brief talk with Meyer.
