I guess only your most bitter rivals really know how to hurt you.
And so, there is this out of L.A. today.
And you want to know the worst part about it?
Not only did USC whip the Fighting Irish in their own house ... not only did several of the Trojans, including quarterback Matt Barkley, claim the Irish quit in the late going ... but they managed to use Notre Dame's own prodigious history as a weapon against it in the process.
The Trojans' yapping, after all, takes you back to 1966, when undefeated Notre Dame and undefeated Michigan State met in their ballyhooed Game of the Century, and it ended in a 10-10 tie -- a tie not a few Spartans claimed afterward happened because the Irish quit trying to win the game in the final minutes.
Now that really hurts.
