Purdue’s schedule

The non-conference schedule for Purdue’s women's basketball team is highlighted by consecutive games against Duke (Dec. 1 on the road), Texas A&M (Dec. 4 at home) and Notre Dame (Dec. 10 at home).

“I don’t have control of the Duke game and the Texas A&M game (with scheduling). That’s where the Big Ten scheduling those two games. Obviously, you don’t want to schedule three top 15 teams in a row, it’s just not that sound type of scheduling, but for us, coming back from Cancun, we have Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday to prepare for Duke. That helps. And then we have four or five days to prepare for Notre Dame,” Purdue coach Sharon Versyp said.

“It is a very tough stretch, but there is more preparation time than in the past. (And) we have two of them at home, which is helpful. It’s going to show where we’re at.

“I told our players, it’s one game at a time.

The players are looking forward to the challenge.

“It’s exciting having a tough schedule,” freshman forward Liza Clemons said. “We get to prove what we’re made of, prove how hard we’re working. We beat up on each other a lot. Now it’s time to beat up on other teams.”
