The Appleseed Quilters Guild will host Gwen Marston, a nationally recognized quilter, teacher and author the first week in November.
An open lecture Nov. 1 will cost non-guild members $5 at the door.
Marston has had 19 solo exhibits since 1981 and has participated in many group shows. She teaches and lectures nationally and internationally and has written 21 books.
While in town, she is teaching four different workshops. You can check with the Appleseed Quilters Guild by calling 493-9291 to see if seats for any of those workshops are open, or to get your name on a waiting list. You do not have to be a guild member to attend.
As of an Oct. 10 email from the guild, the following workshops were scheduled:
- "Liberated Baskets," Monday, Oct. 31 (4 were seats still available);
- "Liberated Log Cabins," Tuesday, Nov. 1 (1 seat had become available due to a cancellation);
- "Small Quilts," Wednesday, Nov. 2 (fully booked, but taking names for a waiting list);
- "Abstract Quilts In Solids," Thursday, Nov. 3 (8 seats were still available).
The cost of Gwen's workshops is $45 per class for guild members and $55 per class for non-members. There is no lunch included in the workshop fee, quilters should bring their own. All workshops will be at the St. Joe Township Fire Department's training room on Maplecrest Road from 9 a.m to 4 p.m.
The open lecture will be Abstract Quilts In Solids. Socializing before that lecture begins at 6:30 p.m. at the Classic Cafe, 4832 Hillegas Road, Fort Wayne.
