Shooter's Comments: An unseasonably warm fall day demands a colorful feature shot so I headed to Foster Park. In the back parking lot I saw Murphy bike off down the Greenway with his two dogs, one dog with only three legs. I debated chasing after them but realized that they'd have to return, so drove to the other side of the park and waited. A few minutes later they showed up and I framed them in front of the tree.
Murphy told me that both dogs were SPCA rescues. When Sky was born her umbilical cord was wrapped around the rear leg; when the mother dog tried to chew off the cord, she chewed through the leg. Later, the leg was causing Sky difficulty, so it was amputated. Murphy said she doesn't miss it but occasionally she tries to chew on Shadow's leg. Sky also has one blue and one brown eye. The were very polite dogs and apparently love to run with the bike.
