Nothing for granted

Former Fort Wayne councilman John Crawford is not taking any chances – nor sparing any expenses – in his effort to return to the city council.

Crawford has spent more than $105,000 on his campaign this year, according to campaign finance reports filed last week.

To put this number in perspective, it is about five times the annual salary of a council position and is nearly four times the combined amount spent by the other six at-large council candidates.

Councilman John Shoaff, D-at-large, reported spending no money so far this year on his campaign.

The bulk of the money Crawford spent went to the Asher Agency for advertising.

Crawford reported having nearly $5,000 left in his campaign account, so it is clear he is going all-in for this chance at election.
