Irish women lose forward for 4-6 weeks

Notre Dame sophomore Natalie Achonwa will miss four to six weeks after suffering a meniscus tear in her left knee, according to Irish women's spokesman Chris Masters.

The 6-foot-3 sophomore was expected to move into the starting lineup this season after averaging 6.9 points and 5.3 rebounds during last season's run to the national championship game.

Achonwa underwent surgery Tuesday, Masters said.

The No. 2 Irish also lost freshman guard Madison Cable for six weeks because of a stress fracture in her left foot.
