Another tea party group has endorsed Richard Mourdock in next year's election for a U.S. Senate seat.
The Indiana Tea Party, in a statement with a Richmond dateline, said Thursday that Mourdock "is faithful to the conservative values of (America's) founders" and "is exactly who is needed to help our country through its current malaise."
Mourdock, who is in his second term as state treasurer, is challenging Sen. Richard Lugar, R-Ind., in the 2012 Republican primary election.
Other tea party groups or affiliated organizations that have endorsed Mourdock include FreedomWorks, the Tea Party Express and Hoosiers for a Conservative Senate, a coalition of Indiana tea parties.
The Indiana Tea Party identifies itself as a central Indiana organization formed in 2009, and says its mission is "to support fiscal responsibility at all levels of government, work to limit the scope of government, and to restore the constitutional foundation of our national government."
