The Komets' Jamie Milam, right, and Shawn Limpright of the Rapid City Rush, get their CHL championship rings Saturday night. They played last season for the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs, who won the title, then folded.

K's respond with big win

Almost everything worked for the Komets on Saturday night.

And quite the change that was.

They got a 7-2 victory over the Rapid City Rush, with the goals coming from Jamie Lovell, Jamie Milam, Chris Auger, Jean-Michel Rizk, Artem Podshendyalov, Colin Chaulk and Frankie DeAngelis.

They forced starting goaltender Tim Boron out of the game, after he gave up four goals on 17 shots.

Fort Wayne goaltender Nick Boucher turned away 22 of 24 shots.

How different that was from Friday, when the Komets (4-4-0) lost 5-2 at Rapid City despite outshooting the Rush 39-19.

This was exactly the type of performance the goal-starved Komets needed. They came into the night averaging only 2.9 goals per game, despite an eight-goal victory at Dayton earlier in the week.

So, does a victory like this give you a little more confidence? It should. But the Komets need to find an identity. They are all over the place. Jekyll and Hyde, eh?
