Traffic, traffic, traffic

Have you see the box from Friday night's 5-2 loss by the Komets at Rapid City, S.D.?

If not, take a look by clicking here.

I wasn't even there, and I can tell you a big part of the problem for Fort Wayne was its inability to get in the face of goaltender Danny Battochio. OK, Bob Chase on WOWO might have helped a little bit with that one.

But there's no way you lose a game by that score, when you've outshot them 39-19, if you are ably getting traffic in front of the net.

I must say, after years of watching Al Sims-coached teams, maybe there is something systematic about this. I can only think, off the top of my head, a few players who really did screen often -- Mitch Woods, Matt Syroczynski, Brad MacMillan.

It's clear to me, especially with the makeup of this season's Fort Wayne team, someone is going to have to get their nose dirty out there.

Like I've written, throw Brent Henley out there at forward, maybe on a power play, if his knee injury isn't too bad, and let him take some abuse up front. Or, maybe David Starenky.
