    The IPFW women’s volleyball was picked to finish second in the Summit League preseason poll of the league’s head coaches. The Mastodons received 53 points. Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own teams.

    IPFW men's soccer players Oscar Uyamadu and Corey Tom being were recently named to the Summit League All-Conference Second Team by College Sports Madness.

IPFW hangs on for season-opening win

IPFW opened its men's basketball season Saturday at Memorial Coliseum with an 83-72 victory over Nebraska-Omaha.

Junior guard Frank Gaines scored 29 points and had nine rebound, and senior Trey McCorkle had a double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds to help Tony Jasick win his head coaching debut.

Freshman guard Jonny Marlin played 38 minutes, scored five points, but added nine assists and had four steals.

Senior guard Jason Smeathers was the only other IPFW player in double figures with 10.
