This week, I share a pattern for a last-minute gift and chat with Merike Saarniit. Also, an older pattern of mine is now available in French!
Athwart Coffee Sleeve
I wanted to make something super-easy, but not too boring. So, I started out with 2 x 2 ribbing and added a different element. An errant knit rib, 2 stitches wide, winds across its brethren stitches, sitting athwart them, as it were.
I think it's fun. It fits well around most bottles and cups I tried. Also, I think it might stretch enough to fit over a pound-sized bag of coffee. I think that would make a simple last-minute gift.
Short-Row Slippers, Now Available In French
I received a note a while ago from Sophie Outry, kindly offering to translate my Short-Row Felted Slippers pattern into French. She emailed me the pattern this week. I don't speak enough French to know if it is any good, but I'm excited to see if anyone makes a few pairs from her instructions. Thanks so much, Sophie!
Merike and I chatted about eastern uncrossed knitting, sock books we love, learning kitchener stitch, and a whole lot of other topics. It was so nice talking with her.
