    Last season was a forgettable one for the IPFW men’s soccer team – it went 1-15-1 – but the Mastodons didn’t look like a one-win team Saturday against Xavier in the Shindigz National Soccer Festival.
  • Women's volleyball picked 2nd in Summit
    The IPFW women’s volleyball was picked to finish second in the Summit League preseason poll of the league’s head coaches. The Mastodons received 53 points. Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own teams.

IPFW loses to No. 13 Xavier

CINCINNATI – Tu Holloway returned from a one-game suspension and scored 24 points to lead No. 13 Xavier to an 86-63 victory over IPFW on Tuesday night.

Holloway was suspended for the season opener against Morgan State for playing in too many summer league games, a violation of NCAA rules.

Xavier (2-0) got a big second half from junior guard Mark Lyons, who finished with 21 points. Lyons had just two points at halftime but went 4 of 6 from 3-point range after the break. Musketeers freshman Dezmine Wells scored 12 of his 16 points in the first half.

Frank Gaines had 22 points for IPFW (1-1).
