Statement issued Thursday by the Fort Wayne Parks & Recreation Department:
Start off your downtown celebration at SANTA'S WORKSHOP at the COMMUNITY CENTER on Wednesday, November 23rd from 4:00-7:30pm with free holiday activities for the kids. There will be crafts, refreshments, movies and a free photo with Santa's favorite elf. Donate a new or gently used bear and enter a drawing to win a giant elf bear. Kids can shop for inexpensive holiday gifts for $1 or less at the North Pole Stop-n-Shop. Mom and Dad can shop, too. Community Center patrons have been crafting holiday items to sell on Candy Cane Lane. The money raised from the crafts will be donated to the Community Center's wellness classes. Finally, check out the light display on the Community Center roof when we turn on the lights at 6:05.
After visiting the Community Center, walk down the street to the CONSERVATORY on Calhoun and Jefferson for their HOLIDAY KICK-OFF PARTY from 5:00-9:00pm. Meet two live reindeer and get a free photo with Santa while you explore the Night Before Christmas exhibit, Piñata Paradise, and our outdoor animated light show. You'll meet Mrs. Claus and enjoy free hot chocolate and a cookie. You can participate in the Fort Wayne Downtown Lighting Ceremony either before or after your visit to our beautiful gardens and displays. Regular Conservatory admission applies. No reservations required. Sponsored by PBS 39, WAJI Majic 95.1 FM, and Media 401.
For more fun at the CONSERVATORY visit Santa and the Reindeer on Saturdays, December 3, 10 and 17 from Noon to 4:00pm. Santa and two of his reindeer will be at the Conservatory to greet children while Mom and Dad take pictures to capture the moment. Explore the Conservatory in its holiday glory; this year's theme is Night Before Christmas. Regular Conservatory admission fees apply. Sponsored by PBS 39, WAJI Majic 95.1 FM, and Media 401.
