Notre Dame's Tyler Eifert is one of three finalists for the John Mackey Award, given to the most outstanding college tight end.
The former Bishop Dwenger standout has the most receptions among FBS tight ends with 53. Eifert is the Irish's second leading receiver with 634 yards, and he has five touchdowns.
The other finalists are Clemson's Dwayne Allen and Georgia's Orson Charles. The Mackey Award winner will be announced Dec. 8.
Also, linebacker Manti Te'o was named the independent defensive player and Lott Impact player of the week. Te'o had 12 tackles and three quarterback hurries in Saturday's 16-14 win over Boston College.
Kicker David Ruffer was named the independent special teams player of the week after kicking field goals of 40, 41 and 27 yards against the Eagles.
