Canterbury coach, players honored

Canterbury boys soccer coach Greg Mauch was named the Indiana Soccer Coaches Association Coach of the Year.

Mauch, who won the award for the fifth time, led the Cavaliers to the first Class A boys state championship.

Mauch has led Canterbury to four state championships, 1997, 1998, 2001 and 2011.

Also, Cavalier players Austin West and Bradley Yurkanin were named to the first team All-State squad.

Dwenger senior honored

Bishop Dwenger senior middle hitter Maddie Mayers was recently named an American Volleyball Coaches Association second team All-American. The 6-foot-4 Illinois recruit is an alternate for the all-star games and skill competition Dec. 16 in San Antonio, Texas.

Churubusco star to sign

Churubusco senior center Tyler Arrowsmith will sign a letter of intent to play basketball at Huntington University today. Arrowsmith averaged 12.7 points, 8.7 rebounds and four blocks per game last season.
