Komets top Quad City

Jean-Michel Rizk had two goals as visiting Fort Wayne topped Quad City 6-5 on Friday.

Rizk and Jamie Milam scored goals in the first period for the Komets (8-5-0).

Brett Smith gave the Komets a 3-2 lead with a goal at 6:57 of the second period. Smith has a point in 12 consecutive games. Bobby Chaumont and Artem Podshendyalov also scored goals in the period for Fort Wayne. Rizk added his second goal at 4:37 of the third period to extend the lead to 6-3.

Alex Kangas made 26 saves in his first start as a pro. The Komets won for the fifth time in six games. Fort Wayne is at Dayton today.
