Ants leading at half, 58-44

The Mad Ants have taken a 58-44 halftime lead over Sioux Falls in the opening game of the 2011-12 D-League season Friday at Memorial Coliseum.

The Ants jumped out to a 28-17 lead, Sioux Falls went on a 9-0 run to get within 36-31, but the Ants outscored the Skyforce the rest of the way out, 22-13.

Forward Darnell Lazare leads the Ants with 12 points, while Ron Howard has 10, as does rookie guard Cameron Jones.

However, Howard has sat out most of the first half with a bruised left foot. He had ice on it throughout the second quarter.
