Homestead came into the season with some question marks, having only two players with varsity experience back. And one of those players – senior Zach Terrell – hadn't played basketball in a year. The Spartans are 4-0 to start the season.
The last two games, the Spartans have two-point wins over Concordia (50-48) and Warsaw (67-65 on Friday).
"Our kids really grew up over these last three weeks," Homestead coach Chris Johnson said. "It is a very young team besides Zach (Terrell) and Nick (Gamble).
"Early on, it comes down to hitting shots. When you hit shots, you look pretty good. And we were hitting shots.
"The good thing about that is they were open looks. It wasn't like they were tough shots, and we weren't forcing anything. Where at times against Concordia and Merrillville, we forced shots rather than letting the game come to us."
