Nick Boucher made 30 saves, leading the Komets to a 3-1 victory at Rapid City on Saturday.
Fort Wayne (11-5-0) beat Rapid City for the second consecutive day and extended its winning streak to six games.
Stephon Thorne scored on a short-handed goal at 4:05 of the second period to give the Komets a 1-0 lead. It was Thorne’s first goal of the season.
Bobby Chaumont scored at 2:15 of the third period to make it 2-0. It was Chaumont’s sixth goal of the season. Brett Smith assisted, his 14th point in the last 15 games.
Sean Wiles cut the Komets’ lead to 2-1 with a goal at 3:47. Brent Henley scored at 14:53 to give Fort Wayne some breathing room. Henley has two goals on the year. He also assisted on Thorne’s goal.
Danny Battochio finished with 31 saves for Rapid City (8-8-1). This was the final meeting of the regular season between the teams.
