Komets stay hot on road

Colin Chaulk had one goal and two assists, and the Komets stayed hot with a 3-2 victory at Rapid City on Friday.

The Komets (10-5-0) rallied from an early deficit to win their fifth consecutive game.

Rapid City (8-7-1) scored first with a goal by Riley Weselowski at 11:16 of the first period.

The Komets answered with two goals to close the period.

Chris Auger tied the game with a goal at 12:54.

Bobby Chaumont scored on a power play at 19:57 to give Fort Wayne a 2-1 lead. Fort Wayne went 1 of 2 on the power play.

Weselowski scored his second goal, on a power play, at 2:28 of the second period to tie the game.

Rapid City went 1 of 3 on the power play.

Chaulk broke the tie at 12:15 of the second period with an unassisted goal. It was Chaulk’s fourth goal of the season.

Nick Boucher made 24 saves for the Komets. Tim Boron finished with 28 saves for Rapid City.

Fort Wayne’s Brett Smith did not score a point, snapping his league-best 13-game point-scoring streak.

The teams play again at 9:05 p.m. today at Rapid City.
