So after two years of almost every travail a human being can fall prey to -- some self-inflicted and some not -- Tiger Woods finally won a golf tournament today.
This no doubt immediately set off a round of dignified high fives and clinking brandy snifters in the well-appointed boardrooms of the PGA. After all, with Tiger nowhere in sight most weeks during the money rounds -- Saturday and Sunday -- the PGA's basically been a bunch of guys named Johnson and your random Graeme and Rory. And nobody was watching. You could turn on the telecasts on Sundays and practically hear the tumbleweeds blowing through the ratings.
So ... now Tiger is back, sort of. He may never catch Jack Nicklaus in majors --time and an ever-expanding host of younger, hugely talented players say the odds are now tipped heavily against it -- but at least Sunday viewing will be up again.
And that's something, at least.
