Half measures help fill the loss side of the ledger for the Fort Wayne Mad Ants on Sunday.
In Portland, Maine, the Ants were outscored 51-32 in the second half and were beaten by the Maine Red Claws, 99-91. It was the first loss of the season for the Ants (2-1), and the first win for the Red Claws (1-3).
The Ants went to halftime with a 59-48 lead, but it was all Red Claws thereafter, as Fort Wayne shot just 36.4 percent (36-of-99) and was 5 of 24 from the three-point line. Corey Allmond led the Ants with 26 points, including all four of the team’s threes.
He got backup from Darnell Lazare (20 points, 11 rebounds), Walker Russell Jr. (17 points, 7 assists) and Marvin Phillips Jr. (11 points, 11 boards), but it wasn’t quite enough.
Fort Wayne outrebounded Maine 51-42.
