Fort Wayne education supplier acquired

Statement issued Monday by Geyer Instructional Products:

The Hagar Corp., parent company of Specialized Printed Products and eMAGC has acquired Fort Wayne based Geyer Instructional Aids Co., Inc.

Geyer Instructional Aids Co., Inc was founded in 1960 by Fred Geyer who passed away unexpectedly in September. The company supplies classroom aids and instructional products for middle and high school math and science classes through catalog and internet sales.

The company has been renamed Geyer Instructional Products and will relocate to 1514 Saint Joseph Blvd, just north of downtown. Some employees have been retained and several new positions will be added in the coming months.

Company President Mark Hagar stated "Geyer Instructional Aids is a great company with a long history of providing materials to help teachers inspire and educate, we look forward to continuing that tradition." Hagar continued, saying "this acquisition represents a wonderful opportunity for us to grow our company in a new direction and retain jobs in Fort Wayne while continuing to grow our core business, we are very excited for the future of our company in all areas."

The acquisition was facilitated by the Regional Angel Investment Network (RAIN Indiana) and terms of the agreement were not released.

The Hagar Corp acquired Specialized Printed Products in 1997 and has utilized a growth-through-acquisition model to grow the company, acquiring several print related companies in recent years. The website development division, eMAGC, was acquired in 2009.
