Kids sought to help Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation craft stockings

The Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation Department is looking for children 4 to 17 years old to visit one of three youth centers to craft Christmas stockings for the department's Stocking Stuffer event.

Between 5 and 7 p.m. on Dec. 12, 13 or 14, children can go to the Weisser, Jennings or Cooper youth centers for the free crafting activity. Children need only attend one of the crafting sessions.

Then, at 5 p.m. Dec. 16 at Weisser Youth Center will be the Stocking Stuffer holiday event. For more information, call 427-6780.

The parks and recreation department is still accepting donations for Operation Stocking Stuffer. Last year more than 200 children received presents and the goal this year is to serve 250 children. To help, either mail or drop off a monetary donation or gift card to Parks & Recreation, 705 E. State Blvd., Fort Wayne IN 46805. Checks should be made out to "Board of Park Commissioners."
