With four NBA hopefuls gone, the Mad Ants suffered a 94-91 overtime loss to Springfield on Friday at Memorial Coliseum.
Four of the team’s top five scorers – guards Walker Russell Jr., Cameron Jones, Ron Hunter and forward Darnell Lazare – were attending NBA training camps on Friday.
Of the primary players left behind, guard Corey Allmond and forward Marvin Phillips combined for 56 points for the Ants (2-3), who visit Erie, Pa., on Saturday. Allmond set a franchise record with eight three-pointers and scored 32 points, while Phillips added 24.
Springfield sent the game into overtime with a jump shot by Lance Hurdle with 1.4 seconds left in regulation.
