Komets lead 1-0 on Auger wrister

The Komets had lots of scoring chances in the first period.

But it wasn't until there was just 30 seconds left that they got one by Evansville goaltender Brian Gillis.

Chris Auger skated down the left wing, approached the net and unleashed a wrist shot that barely squeaked underneath Gillis for a 1-0 lead at Memorial Coliseum.

The Komets had some other great chances, including an Auger shot that went off the post and a close-range jab from Colin Chaulk. A Bryant Molle goal was waved off because a man was in the crease.

THe IceMen's best chance came at 6:45, when Nick Boucher stopped a shot from point-blank range by Malcolm Gwilliam.
