The Komets have won 8 of 9 and improved to 13-6-0 overall, thanks to a 4-2 victory over the Dayton Gems, in front of 6,056 fans at Memorial Coliseum on Sunday night.

While Komets coach Al Sims believes this is the best he's seen goaltender Nick Boucher play, Boucher wasn't so sure.

"I went 24-2-4 in my first season here and one of those losses was (really) Kevin Reiter's," said Boucher, who has won seven in a row and had a shutout streak of 94 minutes, 17 seconds snapped today.

"You go through stretches where you play incredibly well and stretches where you don't. The team obviously has confidence in me and I feel their confidence."

The Komets got goals from center Colin Chaulk (first shot of the game), right wing Lincoln Kaleigh Schrock (his first of the season), defenseman Jamie Milam (power play) and center Brett Smith (his team-leading 10th).

Schrock, had 35 goals over the last two seasons, so he was relieved to finally net one on his 55th shot of this season.

"I don't think people realize how hard it is to score when you have a monkey on your back," Schrock said. "I've just got to keep doing the same thing. I've been getting the pucks on the net, but my shot selection hasn't been great. Tonight, I just tried to shoot for a rebound and luckily it went in. It's nice to get one of those. But we played sloppy a little bit. We don't want to get in a run-and-gun game with anybody, but we found a way to win."
