Indiana is ranked No. 18 in this week's Associated Press top 25 men's basketball poll. It's the first time the Hoosiers have been in the top 25 since 2008.
IU improved to 9-0 after defeating then-No. 1 Kentucky 73-72 Saturday at Assembly Hall. Christian Watford made a three-pointer at the buzzer to give Indiana its first regular-season victory against a No. 1 ranked team since 2001. Watford was named the co-Big Ten Player of the Week on Monday.
"I think these players have earned it," IU coach Tom Crean said when asked about the prospects of a top-25 ranking prior to the poll's release on Monday morning. "I'm excited for what's ahead for this team.
"The biggest thing is that they keep staying locked in to their own expectations."
