This Houston Chronicle photo shows Texans quarterback T.J. Yates scramble against the Bengals on the Texans' final drive Sunday.

T.J. Yates is your friend

OK, Blobophiles, show of hands. Who knows who T.J. Yates is?

A. The original name of William Shatner's character before some network suit changed it to "T.J. Hooker."

B.. The Houston Texans third-string quarterback who snatched victory from the jaws of defeat Sunday, enabling the Texans to clinch the AFC South.

C.The man who might just have saved the Indianapolis Colts from going winless.

The answer: "B" and "C."

"B" because, yes, Yates' touchdown pass with two seconds left gave the Texans a 20-19 victory over the Bengals. And "C" because, in so doing, the Texans clinched the AFC South, which means they'll likely rest their starters against the Colts on Dec. 22, which means the Colts might actually have a shot at winning.

Class dismissed.
