Shooter's Comments: I was sent up to the scene of a shooting in Waterloo Thursday. When I arrived, State Police were investigating on South Center Street after Deputy Marshal Stephen Brady was shot earlier in the morning. A man and a woman were found hiding under a deck near where Brady had been shot, in the 200 block of South Center Street. When the man pulled a handgun and pointed it at police, he was shot and killed, and the woman with him was also shot.
During an investigation, police put up crime scene tape to keep people from walking around the area and destroying evidence. Sometimes the media is requested to stand back further because of something that the police might consider too sensitive to publish or to protect people's privacy.
I became aware of something in the frame of this photo that might have been anything, really. Just to be safe I cropped it out of the frame and just showed the police investigating.
