Considering the size of the egg that they Mad Ants laid Friday night, you'd think this was the time of year for Easter, and not Christmas.
In a game that Mad Ants coach Joey Meyer admitted was their worst of the young D-League season, the Ants (3-4) lost to Iowa (6-2) 95-88 at Memorial Coliseum, where the game started 15 minutes late in hopes of fixing a scoreboard that never did get around to working.
Fort Wayne held a brief 35-34 lead in the second quarter, but Iowa closed the first half on a 22-10 run and the Ants never led the rest of the night.
Cameron Jones, the team's 6-foot-4 rookie guard, scored 15 of his game-high 20 points in the fourth quarter. Jones returned to the team after being waived from the Miami Heat training camp.
Former Mad Ants center Sean Sondeleiter sat on the team bench in street clothes. He was signed by the Ants earlier this week, but then was waived the same day due to a bruised rib. His return remains undecided.
The Ants are back in Memorial Coliseum for a 6 p.m. game Sunday against Springfield.
