Boilers lead at half

Purdue took a 46-35 lead into halftime over Butler in the opening game of the Crossroads Classic at Indianapolis' Conseco Fieldhouse.

The Boilermakers took control of the game with a 9-0 run in the opening five minutes to build an 11-2 advantage.

Butler started to climb back into the game, cutting its deficit to 25-21 with 8:33 left in the half, but Purdue responded with a quick 6-0 burst to a 31-21 lead with 6 ½ left in the first.

Ryne Smith is leading the Boilermakers' with 14 points, and Robbie Hummel has 12. Purdue is shooting 55.6 percent from the floor.

Erik Fromm is pacing Bulter with nine points as the Bulldogs struggle to connect, shooing 47.6 percent. Butler is also struggling to hold on to the ball giving up nine turnovers that have led to 16 points for Purdue.
